every media product reflects the ideology of the product that made it. This is called encoding. However, audiences can also take, or receive meaning from media products. This is called decoding
Dominant ideology- the ideology of most of society
preferred reading- the viewer receives the media product in the way intended
oppositional- where the audience disagrees with the ideology of the product
negotiated- where you reject neither disagree or agree

journalist/ broadcaster are middle class jobs

this episode clearly reflects the time at which that it was made.
this topic holds more hegemonic importance to audience such as young women.
instagram scandals include EDs, self harm.
hyper reality- where the representation is more real than the thing that it is representing.
